You may have heard of carpet reclamation, but do you know what it means? Putting a double whammy on pollution and waste, the reclamation of used carpet increases reuse, while reducing the amount of waste carpet going to landfills. With the vast amounts of carpet disposed of each year (more than 5 billion pounds annually, according to a 2003 Carpet America Recovery Effort [CARE] study1), specifying an environmentally sound way to recycle that carpet is critical to preserving landfill space, and can make a real difference. It can also contribute points to your Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating. Leading the way in the carpet reclamation movement is INVISTA. The Antron Carpet Reclamation Program is the first nationwide carpet reclamation program, with a uniquely simple approach: we take back all types of used carpet – regardless of make, fiber or manufacturer – and no carpet will ever go to a landfill. It’s that easy.

A Second Life For Your Carpet

Antron® carpet fiber, the first and only carpet fiber to receive the prestigious Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP) designation, is the sustainability leader at all stages of a carpet’s lifecycle. For more than 15 years, the Antron Carpet Reclamation Program has found new ways to put used carpet back to work, ensuring the best possible reuse for reclaimed carpet. While old carpet is often recycled back into new carpet products, some nylon polymers (such as Type 6,6) can be reincarnated into other products, like automotive parts, with less refining. This approach saves energy, and reduces the need for new, virgin polymer to be used to make these items.

Reclamation Certification

With the oldest nationwide reclamation program in the industry, the Antron Carpet Reclamation Program goes beyond just a pledge of sustainability, providing you with documentation. You’ll receive a certificate of reclamation, certifying that your carpet has been entered into the Antron Carpet Reclamation Program, with our commitment that the used carpet will never be sent to a landfill. In addition, we offer the ability to track your used carpet throughout the process – at your request, we can provide you with chain of custody documentation. But you don’t have to take our word for it. The Antron Carpet Reclamation Program is third-party certified by a respected organization, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), as a viable reclamation program. SCS’ rigorous certification process provides a scientifically sound and independent audit of environmental claims, helping you identify the true leaders in reclamation. Without exception, if your carpet has reached its end of life, you can use the Antron Carpet Reclamation Program with confidence, assured that you have selected an environmentally responsible option to minimize your environmental impact.
